The Junior Ranger for a Day experience at the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary is perfect and unique for your child’s next wildlife experience. Gift your child with an unforgettable day, packed with beautiful native wildlife, education and fun.

 

What your child’s experience will look like:

A personalised and unique experience where your child will work alongside our rangers with the ability to learn through a hands-on behind the scenes experience. They will learn about how a wildlife sanctuary operates and the conservation programs we manage. Your child will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with our native wildlife including mammals, birds, insects and reptiles.

This is an immersive experience where your child will be encouraged to participate and ask as many questions as they like during their experience, whether it be about wildlife conservation, animal care, future plans, heritage significance of the sanctuary, and what they can do to help wildlife, your child will be guided by a dedicated ranger to answer all questions.

Places are limited so Book Now for your child to have a truly unique and unforgettable junior ranger for a day experience. They will soon be sharing with their friends and family their new knowledge and appreciation about conservation and our unique native wildlife.

 

Your child will receive a free Junior Ranger t-shirt which can be worn during the day and taken home. Each child will also receive an ice cream (icy pole) and drink during lunch break

DAILY SCHEDULE

  • The day starts at 10am and finishes at 3pm (please make sure your child arrives between 9:30 and 10am, parents/guardians will be required to sign consent and waiver forms before the day commences)

  • There will be a morning tea and a lunch break (Participants are required to bring their own food and water, each participant will receive a free ice-cream (icy pole) and drink throughout their experience)

  • At 10am the rangers will conduct a brief orientation and outline the plan of activities for the day

 

ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Preparing enrichment for the animals

  • A hands-on learning experience with native animals

  • An educational tour with qualified and experienced rangers

  • Helping the rangers carry out daily duties which include enclosure cleaning, animal training, gardening, and food preparation.

  • Feeding and working along side a variety of animals

  • Games and craft activities

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Location: The sanctuary is located at 3105 Remembrance Driveway Bargo NSW 2574.

Duration: This experience runs 5 hours (including morning and lunch breaks) and is filled with conservation and wildlife information. 

 

Supervision: Participants of the Junior Ranger for a Day program are always supervised by qualified rangers. Adults will not be able to accompany their participating children throughout the day. This program requires participants to take direction from sanctuary personnel and requires respect to be shown to others.

 

Photography: Due to privacy and safety, participants will not be able to take photographs, the supervising rangers will be able to take photographs throughout the experience which will be made available for parents to download. Photographs taken by our personnel may be used in promotional material on our website, printed or social media if you do not want this to occur, please let our personnel know on the morning of the experience.

 

Availability of experiences: as per booking calendar

 

Animal Welfare: The sanctuary is home to a wide range of native animals; we have a strict animal welfare policy and cannot guarantee that animals will always participate in this experience.

 

Participant Safety: It is a condition of engagement of all personnel at the sanctuary to have a verified clear Working with Children Check. The safety of our guests is important to us, and it is a requirement that suitable clothing be worn including enclosed footwear, long pants, hat, sunscreen and wet weather clothing (if raining) to participate in this experience. If there are certain animals that your child is not comfortable to encounter, please let us know on the booking form or via email. If your child is feeling unwell or sick at the time of their experience, they are unable to participate and will need to reschedule their booking. If your child requires any form of medication during the times of this experience our staff cannot administer these. In this circumstance this experience may be unsuitable for your child, please contact us for more information. The sanctuary has a first aid officer on site each day.

 

Allergies: Due to safety concerns for others, participants are not permitted to bring products that contain nuts or traces of any kind. We must advise that the sanctuary does use nut products as food items for our animals. Every attempt will be made to not allow participants to come into contact with them, however, participants that require an EpiPen must carry it at all times.

 

Ages: This experience is available to ages 7 – 14 years old. All children must be comfortable and act respectfully in the presence of animals.

 

Postponing/Rescheduling: In some cases which may be due to severe weather or circumstances out of our control, we may need to postpone and reschedule your experience.

 

Refund Policy: We will always endeavour to reschedule your experience; in some circumstances we may provide a full refund if 24 hours' notice is given before the time of your experience. If you cancel within 24 hours of your experience, we only offer rescheduling of the experience 

 

Accessibility: This experience is not suitable for wheelchairs, walking aids, or people with compromised mobility. Please contact us for more information if required.

 

Carers/Concessions: The sanctuary currently does not offer general admission and operate booked experiences only therefore we cannot offer concessional rates or complimentary participation for carers in these experiences. Please contact us for more information if required.

 

Payment Information: Payment must be made in full at the time of booking your experience.

Legal: Parents/Guardians of the participant understand that the program operates at their own risk and without any liability attached to Australian Wildlife Sanctuary including any injury to the child or damage to their property. Parent/guardians will be required to sign consent and waiver forms at the time of drop off.
